The Rise and Fall of Chinese History: 221 BC to 2018 AC

Tens of millions of people died of starvation during 1959 to 1961 in China, yet in less than 40 years China became the 2nd largest economy in the world. There are many ways to explain the success of the last 4 decades of China, one of which is through the perspective of history. We show the rises and the falls throughout Chinese history by using an interactive line chart, which presents the evolutoin of Chinese territory in the past. By understanding the history of China, we could partly explain why China had such a rapid growth.
